N’s parents raised her in California. Her grandmother fulfilled the American Dream as she married a soldier stationed in East Asia and followed him back to California to start a life there. Her grandma has inspired her by telling N “You must be more successful than me.” N believes in achieving success, but more importantly, comfort and acceptance in society as well as with her family. As a feminist at a predominately white school, she has observed and experienced the barrier of white focused feminism.
