Synopsis: This comedy follows Lucy Stevenson, a recent graduate from Northeast, and her move to LA to pursue acting. In order to make ends meet, she takes a job as a bartender at the bar Blanco’s, which is run by Camila Blanco, a Mexican immigrant. Since Camila is at the bar a lot, she and Lucy become very close. Lucy becomes close with Camila’s daughter Maria as well, babysitting her a couple times.
However, Camila is a very isolated, hardened, pessimistic person while Lucy is a very bubbly person, so Lucy tries to get Camila to open up. In doing so, Lucy learns that Camila and Maria had to leave Mexico after her divorce left her with no money and job opportunities. And Camila did not want to leave Mexico at all and especially did not want to come to America, which is why she makes no effort to immerse herself in the country.
Camila also introduces Lucy to her little community and teaches her that most of them and other immigrants feel the same way about America. Lucy becomes a more knowledgeable person but also tries to get Camila to become more of a people person and to pursue her passion of painting. This all happens while Lucy continues to pursue acting and also starts dating this girl Peyton. The season comes to an end with Lucy having to choose between the audition of her life or going to Camila’s art exhibit opening.
